hi all.
why is it my blynk only limited to 5 datastreams? when i click the upgrade icon, it actually shows 20 datastreams per template for the free plan.
Do you have a new Free account, created in the past week or so, or is this an older free account that has been around for a while?
Pete.
it is an old account probably almost 1 year or more, i forgot when i created the account.
From what Blynk staff have said in recent replies to similar questions, it seems that if you have an old free account then it will be limited to the old number of devices, datastreams, templates etc.
Users are being advised that if they want to take advantage of the new free features then they6 will need to create a new free account.
Obviously that’s not a simple solution, as there’s no way to migrate templates and their associated datastreams, devices, dashboards etc from one account to another.
You should also be aware that the new free account has a limit of 30,000 (that number may change) server transactions per month for the entire organisation. This means that if you want to send data to Blynk once every 10 seconds on one datastream then you’ll be sending 8,640 data points per day. You’ll hit your limit monthly limit in three and a half days.
If you have multiple devices sending data on multiple datastreams then you’ll obviously hit that limit much faster…
As I said in this topic, the free plan is now useless for most practical applications, and Blynk doesn’t have an affordable paid alternative any longer…
Pete.
thanks for your reply pete, very helpful.
i will just wait until they put cheaper plan (up to $10), because $100 per month is not reasonable for personal use.
have a good day
There was one, it was called the Maker plan (formerly the Plus plan), and it was removed at the same time that the changes to the Free plan were introduced.
There was no announcement or explanation about these changes, even to users who had Maker plan subscriptions.
It seems that Blynk wants to have a Free plan that can only be used for testing, and that can’t be abused. But at the same time they don’t want an intermediate plan, presumably because they feel that this was also being abused in the past.
The only useable subscription is therefore the Pro plan, and as it’s name suggests it’s aimed at the professional market. It seems that there isn’t a way to allow the average home users to access the Blynk system in a useable way, without making that system powerful enough that some business or semi-commercial users are going to use the cheaper subscription in the wrong way.
A sad situation for the Maker community, especially as there aren’t any alternative solutions with the same sort of functionality available.
Pete.
