First off, Blynk is not “this buggy”… It is complex software under active development… and that active part means that when something is discovered as actually buggy (as opposed to just bad programming or limited knowledge on a users part - any user, not just noobs ) then the developers fix it right away
Try getting Microsoft or even Linux developers to move that fast.
Besides, Blynk is FREE, with 2000 points of FREE energy that, aside form a couple of uncommonly used widgets, is totally recyclable. For a project the size of yours, you could go ‘forever’ without spending a penny.
The only “cost” of Blynk is the option of purchasing more energy buffer, that allows more and/or larger projects for a fraction of the cost of a single fast food dinner, and all that extra energy is also fully recyclable.
And for the technically minded, just install a Local Server and be in control of ALL your own energy.
nice explanation
i thought to explain the same, but actually found out that i’m too lazy for that :))
…and anyway, if he begins to use the platform more thoroughly, he will slowly discover the “truth” about blynk. i try to ignore assertions which come from hasty or superficial experience.
I agree… but then I made the mistake of reading some of the reviews on Google Play… much frustration at the limited and spiteful perception of some people
the fact is, that we are quite a lot on this earth, and every person is different. so, it is a tough task to develop something which makes everyone happy, and everyone to understand how to use.
Let us know when you build something anywhere near as powerful as Blynk and provide it for free.
@candeo911 we have the binary data stream setup covered in our docs:
You need to specify a FLIP point, which is the point where incoming data will be turned into TRUE or FALSE state.
For example, you send the data in the range of 0 to 1023. If you set 512 as a FLIP point, then everything above 512 (excluding 512) will be recorded as TRUE, any value below 512 (including 512) will be FALSE.
Another example, if you send 0 and 1 and set 0 as a FLIP point, then 1 will be TRUE, 0 will be FALSE
You need just to press ‘info’ button on the right side of this widget in widget’s menu, or on its settings screen or visit Introduction - Blynk Documentation
Not all things in Blynk are covered by docs, but at least widgets are (except Device Tiles by current moment).
But I’ll check if it is not working correctly.
You all need to stop, and find something better to do with your lives then start a flame war with a noob looking to educate himself.
This is my first time with Blynk, and I barely know how to code. I am having a rough start, so what. We are all born knowing nothing and I am trying to learn, but can’t throw in a small frustration. Experienced members of a community should be helpful, and way more understanding than this since they have “been there done that”. Supportive communities would take that “rant” and look at it as an opportunity to eliminate those frustrations from happening again to other new comers.
Wanek and BlynkAndroidDev, Thanks for the help again…truly.
I think the thing that pissed us all off was your willingness to blame the Blynk software rather than your own lack of experience in coding.
Try popping along to the Arduino or ESP8266 forums and see what sort of reception you get there, then re-read this quote and see if you still think that the members of this community aren’t being helpful. I think you’ll come to the conclusion that within the space of a day you received an incredible amount of support and advice from people who have no financial interest in the product but who are passionate about helping others.
Hopefully, you’ll continue with Blynk and become a more experienced coder and one of the community of members that shares your knowledge and experience with others.
Pete.
No my friend, you need to stop here. Noob looking to educate himself should do exactly that: learn. I bet you didn’t even have a single look at Blynk docs section, that would be smart thing to do if you really want to learn, instead of teaching whole community how to act when your uneducated majesty asks for help. Your comment about being happy for not paying anything for buggy Blynk is extremely arrogant and a call for ignore. So you are right, we all have better things to do with our lives than helping rude and ungrateful noob.
Btw, every time I thought I had problems with Blynk, it was up to my code. It’s just not fair to blame somebody else for your own ignorance.
