Using blynk on university campus network

Hi to all.

I work at a university physics dept. After finding out about blynk it looked like a great way to control some arduino-based equipment I’m working on.

Except the network here is very much locked down.

I tried this test from your archives:
telnet cloud.blynk.cc 8442
and it timed out. If that port is blocked, is there any point in setting up a local server?

Any/all advice welcome.

Recent changes use port 8080 now.

Oh, I tried telnet again with 8080 and it now connects. Does that improve my odds?
