[SOLVED] Blynk doesn't work with Esp8266-01

if you cant even flash it - it must be the issue?

these things are 2 dollar parts, they are perhaps not all made perfect?

so you did connect RX and TX properly tied GPIO0 to LOW, CH_PD to HIGH and GPIO2 to HIGH?

So true, I messed up a couple of them bigtime, lol.

Also, as @conkerkh notices, put the right pins high. I think even RST should be high when running/flashing.

OP appears to have had success with other ESP8266 modules so i was assuming the basic wiring was not the problem…

e.g.

yes, i am usually RX & TX wrong, but i’ve never burned one… does the smoke escape, or do they just stop working?

Usually they stop working. There is not much smoke in these little guys and they are pretty resillient. I used 5v logic on them a couple times, but that eventually does the trick, lmao.

I always make sure i have a couple handy. It’s also handy for testing purposes (and I hand some out to colleagues and friends to get them involved :stuck_out_tongue: )

i found the WeMOS D1 a great investment - much easier for development, then solder up a fresh ESP module for each project

What Blynk library version / baud rate are you all using with ESP hard shield?

With the hardshield you can go up to 115200. Blynk just latest library. I use the 0.3.3 beta (not sure if there is newer one available, but it seems to do fine!).

First of all other modules have different wiring in terms of some pull up or pull downs might be missing. Secondly don’t be so sure you didn’t make mistake doing wiring even if you do it 1000 times you can make mistake…

If ESP is dead it always gets very hot quickly so it’s easy to identify it you burned it.

I installed the newest library, newest server and my esp-01 is now stably flying at 115200

@zetalif, was your problem solved?

Hi all,

Ok at the end I’ve solved with a new esp (from a friend of mine 512k instead of 1M).
I’ve used :

Generic ESP8266 Module
Serial
80MHz
40MHz
QIO
115200 bds

This confirm mine Esp has hardware problem. I’ve ordered a new one. May be this time i’ll be more lucky.
Thank again to everyone for help!!

Hi zeeko where I can find new library?

0.3.1 is the latest stable here: https://github.com/blynkkk/blynk-library/releases
