Somebody passed me a QR code so I can manage my own device, however when I try to scan it, it says I don’t have enought energy
I tried to buys some credit ( 5000 point now) and still cannot get to scan it: I get the same message!
This is really annoying:
- this is supposed to be a free platform for personal use
- the term “energy” is confusing, why not use the term" credit" instead?
- I don’t have a problem paying some money to get a ready-made web page, but how do I know how much I need? I’m not planning to use it for anything else, so don’t want to waste money if I can avoid it
- I have tried looking at the FAQs, and other entries on the web and could not find anything about the “not enough energy” problem, so I assume this must be a known “issue”, but still as a newby should be documented
I would be grateful if somebody can help me with this issue
Thanks
No, it’s not.
With the Legacy platform that you are using, you were given 2000 free energy units. Each widget you add to the app dashboard uses energy, which is recycled if the app is deleted from the dashboard. If you want to use more widgets than you currently have energy for then you buy more energy.
Because that’s the term Blynk adopted at the time. Energy isn’t used in the latest version Blynk IoT), instead if you want more features than are available in the free version then you have to sign-up to a monthly subscription.
The app used to say “this project requires x units of energy, you only have y units available”. Maybe this feature has now been removed?
The simple way is to ask the person who gave you the QR code to work it out from the widgets they used.
I think the “issue” is that you don’t have enough energy for the project you are trying to import.
It’s pretty baby not worth investing too much money in this project, as the Legacy cloud servers will be turned off at some point, and the energy you’ve bought will be lost, and the project will stop working. You’d be better migrating to Blynk IoT if you are looking for a long term solution.

First of all thanks for you taking your time to reply to my question.
I understand I have to pay for the services, however I think you are missing the point: I want to use someone’s else project to test my device, but blink calculates I have not enough “energy”, and instead of telling me how much I need ( which already knows) tells me to buy more. I have tried to contact the developer but have received no feedback, which is why I’m asking in the Forum. I understand I may loose the credit on the legacy app, but that’s actually irrelevant if I cannot create the project. As it stands I cannot move forward. So what is the solution?
It requires 6,500 energy units.
Pete.
Thanks Pete, yo saved my life!
Just managed to scan the code - after getting some more credit
How do I get the authentication code for my device?
I can’t see any option, nor have I received an email from Blynk
Thanks again
Sorry, diregard that. I figured it out already!
By the way, how did you manage to find out how many point was required?
Thanks
I scanned the QR code and deducted the remaining energy from the energy I had previously - then deleted the project.
Pete.
Thanks!
In my opinion is a disgrace it does not say how many points are required. Is not like it has to calculate it. It already knows!
Specially for noobies like me is a stumbling block
It did tell you the energy needed at one time, but the app has been changed since it was discontinued.
I believe that new account sign-ups have been stopped and I don’t think energy purchases will be allowed for much longer. I believe the legacy app will be removed from the app/play stores fairly soon.
