I would like to use Blynk to connect to my arduino mega 2560 (onboard esp8266), and I would like to know if flashing NodeMCU to the esp8266 is reversible if it doesn’t work out. It took awhile to get the at firmware on there. Could someone please help me out here? I don’t want to destroy my only board.
What exactly do you mean by this?
The NodeMCU is a type of board, which uses the ESP8266 chip.
Pete.
So sorry, I have become quite confused as some sites refer to the NodeMCU as a board and others as a firmware. I flashed my esp8266 with esplink and have at commands working but every example I can find wants me to flash the 8266 with NodeMCU firmware. I’m about at my wits’ end. I just want to monitor my hydroponics sensors so I don’t burn up a pump or lose tomato plants.
There are various firmwares available for the NodeMCU, but I would doubt that they are necessarily suitable for your board.
It might be good to start by saying exactly which board you are using, and what changes you’ve made so far.
Pete.
I guess you have the Robotdyn designed Mega+WiFi board.
If you switch only switches 5,6,7 on and then power up the board, the esp8266 is ready to be flashed with any firmware. the switch 7 sets the flashing mode. switch 5 and 6 set RX and TX of the esp8266 to connect to the USB chip (CH340)
