Blynk legacy app (2.27.34) and Android OS compatibility

Hi everyone!

I’m still using in my motorhome the Blynk legacy private server and latest legacy Android app (2.27.34). Now I plan to upgrade my phone, and wondering which is the latest Android version where the app still works (confirmed by users)? In the app info they say its compatible with Android 12, at least.

Thank you!

You cannot combine Blynk legacy with Blynk2.0.
You have to completely change your projects to new Blynk. None of the old stuffs gonna work.

@wanek isn’t trying to combine Blynk Legacy with Blynk IoT.
He’s using legacy local server with the legacy android app. He wants to upgrade his Android phone, and install the legacy android app on the new phone, but wants to know if it will work under the latest (or later) versions of Android OS.

When the legacy app is no longer available in the app store or play store and no further updates are available.
So my point was, the only latest official app available on the store is Blynk2.0, so one cannot combine the old stuff and have to migrate to new platform.

I said the end result. Its not that i did not understand what he was asking. Phone will start to give pop ups asking to update or just close the app abruptly. This is my observation. One has to keep a old phone which doesn’t receive any android/iOS update.

When this is not feasible, one has to migrate. This was my answer.

The legacy app can be installed on android devices if you have access to the APK file, and that’s a simple workaround in this case.

Without going into too much personal info about @wanek, he has a number of personal challenges, and he has a motorhome which he uses extensively. He uses Blynk Legacy to manage many of the systems in that motorhome, and these rely on the use of a local server. Using a cloud-based server isn’t an option, as he is frequently in areas where there is no internet connectivity, and in addition, the data costs whilst roaming could be extremely expensive too.

As you know, I am usually the first to advocate migration to Blynk IoT, but in this case that just isn’t practical.
