I have a local server and every time I update the app, it seems to always have trouble with a slightly older local server. This forces me to update the local server every time the app is updated (on Android). Anyway, I realize Blynk is under heavy development right now, but I’m wondering if you think this will not be as frequent in the future. I.e. the app will get updated, but would be backward compatible with older server versions.
I would rather be worried if the project stays still for months…
We do all we can to provide backward compatibility, but sometimes updates are very significant. Multiple active projects required lots of updates on the server side as well.
Understand your frustration. But back compatibility is not free. And while we free we cannot afford that. But anyway at the moment you have only 2 options :
- Do not update Android and Server; So it will work forever =). You could schedule update to any date you want. It is not necessary for you to update on every release you could do that after 2-3-4 new releases;
- Update server as soon as new application is released;
The choice is up to you.

Thank you. I just found a way to prevent a single app from auto-updating in Android, which I wasn’t aware of previously. Open Google Play Store, go to the Blynk app info page, click on the 3-dot menu button in upper right and de-select auto-update.
Cheers!
