First let me assure that I have read all possible links on the subject.
With that I was able to reach a point of being able assign a Device to a User . But my issue did not end there …
I have four active devices and out of that I want a particular User to be able to see only one device . But it is not so … when that User logs in the dashboard has all my four devices . Right now its not an issue as its all in trial phase … but would be better if I can restrict unassigned devices from showing upto him.
Thanks
What user type (user, staff, admin) is the device owner?
What subscription type do you have?
If you have a PRO subscription what sub organisations have you created, and where does this user/device sit in that hierarchy?
Pete.
I have a PLUS subscription as right now I am focusing on only some automation for my home.
So, I as Admin, was the owner earlier and using the Clear Owner and Transfer owner options ,I shifted the ownership to one such person. ( And I think the PLUS account does not allow configuring permissions ? ) As for Organizations I have only one.
I do appreciate that Blynk is a multi location , multi user app and hence has lots of features aimed at these. Takes a while to get to the core concepts … still trying anyway.
You still haven’t said what user type this person is.
Pete.
The Role of the Person is USER
And his Permissions are these … nothing of course can be changed.
Not sure if this answers your query ?
If you go to Settings > Access > Roles & Permissions > Devices > Owned Devices (and also Organisational Devices) what does the matrix of permissions show?
Pete.
Apart from this the other permissions in Organizations is just View and Control for the Users. Anyway I cannot change any of these .
I don’t really know what this means, it could be interpreted several different ways.
I’m aware of that, but I do t have access to a Plus account so I’m unaware of what the current permissions settings are for each role. I’m simply trying to see if there’s a simple way to help you here, but you seem reluctant to provide the information.
Pete.
When you are trying to help me, why should I be reluctant to provide info. !!
If I have to share all of the expanded tree for the Owned Devices and Organizations it is many screen shots as I already shared.
Anyway its OK … I will go ahead with my application and maybe when it has to be commercially deployed will upgrade to Pro which I hope will permit to do what I want.
Thanks for the help !
I have no idea, but clearly you’re looking to allow users to control owned devices but not control organisational devices. Without seeing both the owned devices settings and the organisational devices settings it’s impossible to tell if there is a combination that suits your needs.
There are potential workarounds using two accounts and the REST API, but if you’re looking at a commercial solution then you’ll need the PRO account anyway and that will solve your problem by using sub organisations.
