Data Storage ideas needed!

So I just upgraded. I have been running now for 10 minutes but still get “No data” on graph. How long till data will be populated on graph? How often will it be updated?

Data updated once an hour. (at the beggining of an hour).

There is an hour granularity so no reason to update more often… For instant update you need to use just graph (soon it will also support history data, but only for 1 pin).

Ok, yes it is good at least you can show same pin on line graph and history graph. It would also be usefull to have some more smaller time choices for history graph like 2,6,12 hours.

Well, according to data we have usually users store sensor data with average hour period… What is your data and how often you store it?

I am monitoring temps for a homebrew beer fermentation chamber at 5 second intervals. Depending on the stage, I may want to see temps at 1-2 hour range to see how steady the temps are.

That’s what I call a nice project! Forget the greenhouse, get me a brewery!

Anyway, 1 hour intervals are probably suitable in most cases, but there are some exceptions. I’ll be installing the new widget as soon as my phone can download it, which is not really that fast, lol.

I think my wife her fishtank could do with smaller intervals like 10 or 15 minutes. Any climate changes can have pretty bad effects really quickly because the eco system is really small (compared to a lake or something).

@CptanPanic @Lichtsignaal so what granularity you need? One minute interval within 3 hours? So ~180 points for 3 hours?

That sounds decent, 1 minute historical intervals for last 3 hours.

I’d go for about 5 minute intervals. Maybe it would be possible to configure those in a limited amount of steps. E.g. 1 minute, 5, 15, 30 and 1 hour.

I’d like to see it over a period of about 4 hours, but I’m not sure that’s possible with the current screen resolutions. It has to look nice too

Ok, we’ll think what we can do here.

@CptanPanic @Lichtsignaal check the latest version it is still not ideal but we added minute granularity and 1h and 6h intervals.

Are there an plans to release an iPhone version of history graph?

In next release in 2 weeks. Currently testing

only one message per minute !

@stanislav_labs for realtime stats you could use just simple graph.

I am currently building a project that will monitor pH levels. There are several solenoid valves, psi monitors, temp and of course pH. I will be logging data to an SD card (arduino) as well as a cloud app where I can save it as a .csv file for record keeping. I will be logging the status of the system every hour (baseline) and then if/when something changes. Example, if ph rises, solenoid valve “a” opened. So, I would like to log a date and time stamp for the change in pH as well as when the solenoid valve opened. This will also trigger a message-pH level rising (include current value).

The history graph when added to projects where a board hibernates for most of the time and wakes up once in a while to transmit data (i.e. very low power consumption) will be a game changer for me. I don’t have an Android device to see what you guys did so far so avidly waiting for the iOS version

Will it be (is it) possible to use a virtual pin to read particular data points in the history? (i.e. any particular past data and not only the latest data)

Thanks guys.

Yes.

any particular past data and not only the latest data

Yes.

waiting for the iOS version

Indeed it is already implemented and was published, but Apple rejected our build because of… application name :grinning:.

hi sir!!
i am an engineering student n m using blynk app in my semester project …i have a MQ7 gas sensor connected to A0 of arduino . i want to read tat sensor value on my celphne using blynk lcd display widget.
_ i am not understanding the concept of ‘‘virtual pins’’ . in blynk & in lcd widget simple mode ,tr are two options analog or virtual . can u guys help me in the connections ??how do i connect sensor to aurdino and which pin should i select on app??can u send me the code of lcd when sensor is connected to AO of arduino???please i will be vry grt ful if you help!! thank you!_
