Did you ever consider fitting 12v electric releases into the door frame instead? I use that type of system on the outside gate of our holiday home in Spain, along with an RFID system and Blynk/Alexa integration and it works very nicely.

Ouch lol. Using an electronic lock was my first thought for this project, but I live in an apartment and we aren’t allowed to modify the locks (I guess their key has to work). So instead I went with something external that I could mount to the wall with wall safe mounting tape.
