Blynk 2.0 Pricing Model Not Friendly to Hobbyists

I said that because, if we have the flexibility of adding or removing the widgets, then there are n number of denominations and that would be hard create a plan or subscription for it. I think it’s really hard to keep track of.

Thats the only reason i said that. I have mentioned it earlier also

But we can come up with a better idea for it.

I think there are potentially options for a “mix & match” approach to subscriptions, but the more complex these get the more difficult it is to manage in the code.
This leads to more work for Blynk both in the initial setup, and at every stage of the development process. So, it costs Blynk time (and therefore money) but with very little benefit for them.
In fact, you could argue that Blynk would lose some subscriptions if the mix & match options were too flexible because users would build their custom subscription rather than upgrading to the next subscription tier to gain the additional functionality that they need.

Blynk as a company needs steady income, and this comes from subscriptions. Without this knowledge that the income next month will be x dollars they can’t employ staff on permanent contracts to continue developing the product.

I sympathise with makers who don’t want to commit to an ongoing monthly drain on their resources. But those same people want to make a small payment in exchange for a bulletproof product with 24/7/365 uptime and a product that offers features that you have to pay more for on other platforms.
These two things don’t reconcile with each other, so something has to give. Sadly that means some people have to go without the functionality they crave, but that’s life. We’d all like nice houses, cars etc for very little outlay, but that’s not how things work in the real world.

Blynk is a company that is doing its best to have a great product that attracts lots of paying customers, but the bottom line is that they are a business. Their bottom line is to make money for the shareholders and investors, and that fact that some makers feel an ongoing subscription is inappropriate isn’t going to change the fact that Blynk needs a business model that generates ongoing and predictable cash flow.

If this is what it is that you just explained !! Then there are zero chances that Blynk could make new plans or make existing plans cheaper or flexible for hobbyists.

This is a closed chapter. Because as you just said, makers/hobbyists do not want a subscription but one time payment, and that won’t work well for Blynk.

So this is it. I guess Blynk lovers must get this in their veins and stop complaining about subscription.

Or else one will have to move-on in search of other platform!! All the best.
