I flashed my ESP wih node MCU. Can I use it as shield for arduino for harware or software serial example.Any help is greatly appreciated

You need to have the AT command set firmware (and in the right location) to use the ESP as a WiFi adapter via a serial connection. AFAIK the NodeMCU and the AT command set are mutually exclusive. No problem: just reflash the ESP01. Read this thread for the details.
